Be sure to pre-order Windows 7 or pay more!!!

http://windowsitpro.com/windowspaulthurrott/article/articleid/102303/pricing-malfunction-how-microsoft-will-bungle-the-windows-7-launch.html

The skinny is that if you don’t pre-order Win7 (Home Premium Upgrade) for $50 during the limited window at the end of June, you will have to pay $100 for it thereafter!! Thanks to Paul Thurrott for digging into this and getting the word out.

Down with displays!

http://store.apple.com/us/product/TV748?mco=OTU3MDQ1

We’re getting closer all the time to something I have been looking forward to and talking up for almost a decade, display-less mobile computers. Imagine if your mobile device didn’t have a display, but rather a built-in projector. (I used to say laptop, but cell phones have so much computing power these days that they are giving them a run for the money in the mobile space.)

You could point it at any wall and get as big or small a monitor as you needed. Keep you spreadsheet private on the cubical wall, but enlarge it to see the detail on a graph. Bring it into the conference room and show everybody the graph. Instead of watching movies huddled around a laptop on vacation, you could just download some to your phone and show them on a wall.

Knee of the curve baby…

Apple lost an iPhone sale tonight

I was there, clicking to buy, when I was brought up short by the price coming up on the screen as TWICE as much as advertised earlier today. As if! Lost Sale.

Spinning circle replaces hourglass

I don’t know when this happened, but I am just realizing I haven’t seen an hourglass in years. Instead they’ve all been replaced by versions of (thanks Wikipedia!) this:

Microsoft’s is colored and looks more like a wheel, but same idea. Who threw the switch?
