Stanford University iPhone Class iTunes Url

Anybody besides me subscribed to the Stanford University iPhone development course podcast on iTunes?  The videos download automatically. However every couple of days I have to hunt down the URL for the accompanying PDFs:

Free “Age of Empire”-type games

I recently came across:

Evony ( http://www.evony.com )

and

Heroes of Wesnoth ( http://www.wesnoth.org )

Evony is browser-based (Flash), while Wesnoth is a open-source pc game with stand-alone and multi-player online modes. If any one has experience with either one please comment.

New Netbook King: Asus Eee PC 1000HE

http://www.amazon.com/1000HE-10-Inch-Netbook-Intel-Processor/dp/B001QTXL82

A caller on Twit (http://twit.tv) said that he got 7 hours of battery life on the 6 cell (not 9 cell) battery. That's revolutionary.

The new atom processor, a Gig of ram, 160 Gig drive, XP, 802.11n...

$384.52 with free shipping from Amazon.

You can bump up the ram to 2G for about $20.

And to top it all off, a glowing review it the latest print issue of MaximumPC, a gamer magazine.

Verizon Mifi

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/05/verizon-mifi-personal-wi-fi-coming-this-month/

http://gizmodo.com/5243552/verizon-mifi-2020-ev+do-router-delivers-portable-wifi-with-a-hefty-fee

Verizon will be offering a mobile router/cell modem that provides wifi to 5 devices using evdo for backhaul to the internet. We’ve been imagining this device for years, but I’m blown away that they actually have created it.  And on top of the recent femtocell product, which is also great. I have to hand it to Vzw, they are really innovating lately!

UPDATE: nice review from Engadget – USB charging!

Kindle DX

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10234355-2.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Webware

Can I just say how ANNOYED I am that I just bought the Kindle 2 (when it came out)! I had no idea this beauty was coming. PDF support! Much bigger screen. ARGH!

Window 7 RC and Live Writer - detecting blog icon

I’m actually writing this with Live Writer on Windows 7 RC – however getting Live Writer configured was not a slam dunk. It installed ok. The next step is to configure your blog. It got stuck time after time on “detecting blog icon”. It’s an icon – let it go and move on! I finally let it sit there all night, and stubbornly it was waiting there the next morning.

Surprisingly nothing turned up in a Google search. After way too long, it finally occurred to me to play with the shortcut compatibility settings. I started with “run as administrator” which was enough to do the trick.

Hopefully this will help the next person who searches Google for it :)
